Arlington is a small town situated in Southwestern Tennessee. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Arlington had a population of about 11,000 people in 2014. The town is located in Shelby County, the largest county in the State of Tennessee.

Settlers arrived in the area where Arlington is located during the 1830s. The town was originally named Haysville, honoring its founder Samuel Jackson Hays. Arlington experienced great population growth after the arrival of the Memphis & Ohio Railroad and the construction of a depot. In 1878, the town became incorporated and was renamed in 1883.
